New Drink - French 75

French 75

Crushed ice
1 1/2 ounces dry gin
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
6 ounces chilled champagne

Half-fill a 14-ounce collins glass with crushed ice. Pour in the gin and lemon juice and stir in the sugar. Pour in the champagne.

It may sound weird but it's very refreshing. It would definitely be good at one of our cookouts. We'll also have to try out the variations.

Variations:
French 95: Use bourbon instead of gin
French 125 Use brandy instead of gin.

You could try it with vodka instead? I think it must have been created as either a way to get rid of extra champagne or to cover up the taste of bad champagne.
